A name worth celebrating
Whether you’re welcoming a little one into your family or stepping into a name that feels truly your own, it deserves a moment.
I create warm, personal naming and renaming ceremonies across Scotland and beyond. No rules and no pressure to do things a certain way. Just a relaxed space for you and the people you love to feel seen and be celebrated.
Every body is welcome here.
Naming ceremonies from £300
A lovely way to welcome your child into your family and community, celebrate their name and honour the people who will be there to love, guide and support them as they grow.
The ceremony might include family promises, readings, music, stories, symbolic rituals or touches of faith, culture and tradition.
There are no rules about what a naming ceremony looks like. We can keep things beautifully simple, get everyone involved, or come up with something completely your own.
Renaming and gender-affirming ceremonies
from £300
A joyful way to honour someone stepping into a name and identity that feels truly their own, surrounded by the people who see, love and celebrate them.
The ceremony might include affirmations, letters, music, chosen-family promises, symbolic rituals or an acknowledgement of the journey that brought them here.
Most importantly, the person being celebrated leads the way. Their wishes and boundaries come first.
Our time together
-
We have a chat
Tell me who and what we’re celebrating. You might already have a lovely idea bubbling away, or you might just know this is a moment you don’t want to let pass without doing something special. -
You book
A signed agreement and £100 booking deposit secure your date. -
I get to know your story
We’ll spend some time talking about the person at the heart of it, the people who love them and all the stories, memories and little threads we might want to bring into the ceremony. -
We plan the ceremony
Together we’ll explore what you’d love to include. Promises, letters, readings, music, a symbolic ritual, or something completely new.
-
I write
I’ll bring everything we’ve talked about together into a ceremony written especially for you. You’ll have time to read it, sit with it and tell me if there’s anything you’d like to change. -
We get everything ready
I’ll take care of the practical bits and make sure everyone involved knows where they need to be and what they’re doing. -
We celebrate!
I’ll arrive early, get everything settled and guide everyone through the ceremony. It’s yours to enjoy! -
You keep the words
Afterwards, you’ll receive a beautiful digital copy of your ceremony to keep.
Your ceremony, your way
There are no rules about what a naming or renaming ceremony looks like. I don’t make assumptions about gender, family roles, faith or identity. I always begin with you.
A little inspiration:
-
Promises from the people who will love, guide and support them
-
Affirmations and letters from the people who see them
-
Chosen-family promises
-
Readings, music and stories
-
A symbolic ritual, traditional or brand new
-
Touches of faith, culture and tradition, or none at all
-
An acknowledgement of the journey that brought you here
We can keep things beautifully simple, get everyone involved, or come up with something completely your own.
Love notes
When I first met Jan I found her to have a very calm presence. Extremely articulate, charming and a great sense of humour. It was obvious she had taken the time to get to know the couple’s back story and injected her passion and sentiment into her delivery. I would recommend Iris & Sun Ceremonies unreservedly.
