The heart of your wedding
Your ceremony is the heart of your wedding. A chance to gather your favourite people and community, tell your story and make promises that feel true to the life you’re building together.
I’ll create a ceremony that sounds like you, celebrates the people and the details, giving you the space to feel fully present in it all.
Your ceremony should feel like you
There is no right way for a wedding ceremony to look or sound. It can be joyful, fun, heartfelt, sentimental, emotional, spiritual, full of music, rooted in family tradition and culture, or short and simple.
You might write your own vows, make shared promises, or want to say very little. You might involve children or pets, include a reading, a favourite song, granny’s favourite flower or something completely new that everyone will say ‘ah that’s so them’.
Nothing needs to be included because it’s fashionable or expected. We’ll start with the things you love (and don’t love!) and take it from there.
Eloping? You deserve the whole heart
around the two of you
An elopement is a beautiful, intentional way of choosing to celebrate your love around the two of you. You might elope to a quiet lochside, a beach, a woodland, a garden, a city courtyard, a rooftop or a place abroad that already holds part of your story.
However many people are there, I give your elopement ceremony the same care, thought and attention. There may just be a wee bit more space to hear the wind, take a breath and notice every word.
Symbolic rituals, if you’d like them
Symbolic rituals can add another layer of storytelling to a ceremony. You might be drawn to something familiar like handfasting, sand blending, unity candles, the quaich, seed or tree planting, or you might want something completely bespoke.
If you’d like to include a symbolic element but have no idea where to begin, I can help and guide you! I adore coming up with unique ideas that connect to something real in your relationship. I recently created a symbolic ritual called ‘The Rest Is Still Unwritten’, for a couple that love to journal. It’s not for everyone, but it’s for them.
If rituals aren’t your thing then that’s just as meaningful too! With a celebrant there are no rules about what a ceremony should look like, as long as it feels like you.

Love notes
Jan is not only an amazing celebrant, but it’s really clear how deeply she cared about her couples and telling their story in the most beautiful way possible! She has a real poetic way with words and she beams with warmth and light; booking with her will ensure there won’t be a dry eye in the room!
The ceremony she officiated was beautiful, heartfelt and incredibly personal. She spoke from the heart and it brought a tear to my eye. If I were ever to renew my wedding vows, there would be no question, I would choose Jan to officiate them.
You have a vibrant and natural way of story-telling that people want to hear more. Your natural warmth and the way you connect with people is just gold in our world of celebrancy.
A few things you might be wondering
What is an independent celebrant?
I professionally trained with The Academy of Modern Celebrancy as an independent celebrant, which means my approach begins with you. Your beliefs, values, traditions and the way you want your ceremony to feel.
Your ceremony can be completely non-religious, a humanist outlook, gently spiritual, include elements of faith or culture, or blend different traditions. Your ceremony is completely yours.
